"In the Winter, when everything is bare, the evergreens remind us that the Earth is still alive. They symbolize hope, protection, security, growth. When I feel stripped bare ~ overworked, overwhelmed, or just plain exhausted ~ I have to force myself to slow down, to take a moment and just watch the snow float peacefully to the Earth. It's about letting things happen instead of trying to control everything. It's about rest and renewal in order to move forward with grace and Zen. It's a cozy warm blanket of evergreens. 'You'll feel better in the morning,' my mother always said. Sleep sweet." Elisabeth Ladwig

"Bare Bones of Winter" presents a scene with an atmospheric and somewhat ethereal quality. It features a woman seen from the back, set in a snowy landscape. She is clad in a long, dark green dress which sways with movement. Her hair is dark and flows freely down her back. Her hands are replaced by boughs of greenery, a stark contrast to the barren branches nearby. The setting is wintry and desolate; snow falls gently through the scene, contributing to a serene, yet slightly melancholic ambiance. Silhouetted against the overcast sky, a few birds are in flight, and a simple, skeletal structure of a bare, wooden structure of a house in the background. Overall, the artwork creates a sense of solitude and unspoken narrative, inviting the viewer to ponder the woman's story and destination within this tranquil yet cold landscape. The use of muted colors with the exception of the woman's dress and the greenery she carries adds a touch of life and focus to the composition.
