"So here we are. Here we are, with little understanding, demanding an explanation. It’s light and it’s dark, and so swift that it’s still. Here we are, on this big tiny rock, where chirps and howls and croaks break the silence, reminding us to be humble in our search for an answer. Dichotomies abound across infinity. They blur the head, and they clear the heart. We are here. What was the question again?" Elisabeth Ladwig

"Little Earthling" depicts a person ascending into a starry, cosmic expanse through a stone archway. The figure, with their back to the viewer, is portrayed with a dynamic sense of movement, their hair and clothing suggesting motion – the hair windswept and the garment flowing. The individual is dressed in a long, purple dress and appears barefoot, emphasizing a sense of freedom and abandonment of earthly constraints. The stone archway serves as a gateway from a grounded reality into an otherworldly realm filled with celestial bodies. Various planets, varying in size and color, populate the dark, space-like environment beyond the arch. These celestial orbs exhibit textured surfaces, like craters, landforms, and even vegetation. Streaks resembling shooting stars or comet trails enhance the cosmic feel of the scene. The arch itself is built with apparent rough stones, adding to the mystical and ancient atmosphere of the piece. The ground has a checkerboard pattern that fades into a mist at the foot of the figure, reinforcing the transition from the known world into the unknown universe. Overall, the artwork conveys themes of exploration, mystery, and a departure from the mundane to the extraordinary, encapsulated in this moment of crossing the threshold between the two spaces.
